Tirana has been the capital of Albania since 1920 and is the most populated city in Albania, as well as being the political and economic centre of the country.

At the centre of Tirana you can find Skanderbeg Square, an ideal spot to begin your exploration of the city. Across the road from the statue of Skanderbeg are the 18th century Mosque of Ethem Bey and clock-tower.

Tirana city centre is located just a short distance from the main airport of Albania making it the ideal destination for a short-break. The relaxed, friendly and warm atmosphere of the 24 hour bars and clubs in the city centre make for an unforgettable stag/hen weekend.

Mount Dajti

Located approximately 25km from Tirana is the Dajti National Park mountain reserve centred on the Dajti mountain. We recommend travelling there by cable car direct from Tirana. The journey takes about 13 minutes and It is a wonderful way to enjoy the panoramic view! It is possible to walk up the mountain; there is plenty of shade provided by the woodland. Spectacular views can be enjoyed from the Panorama Restaurant.

Mosque of Ethem Bey

Kruja Castle & Museum

Kruja is a medieval town near Tirana. It is built on the slope of the Sari Salltiku mountain. The Skanderbeg museum is located in the castle. On the walk up to the castle you can purchase trinkets and hand made souveneirs from the locals; it is worth haggling over the price. You should also visit the medieval bazaar, a narrow, cobbled street selling modern souveneirs as well as antiques. You can also find traditional felt-makers and watch the local women weaving rugs. You will be welcome to look around the shops with no pressure to buy anything.

Kruja is one of the best places to shop for souveneirs as it is one of the only towns in Albania which is really geared towards tourists. There are two restaurants within the area of the castle from which you can admire the views.

National Historical Museum

The National Museum in Tirana houses many archaeological finds and ancient maps, photographs and costumes.
